Basketball produces scoring events constantly, so 1xBet builds its markets around periods, milestones and scoring sequences, not only the match result. Win by Halves, Win by Quarters, Correct Score by Quarters and Race to N Points are the four families covered here.
This guide defines each market, explains the “Neither” option and gives examples.
Win by Halves
Win by Halves asks which team scores more points in each half.
The game is split into two independent periods:
- First half: Q1 and Q2 combined
- Second half: Q3 and Q4 combined
Only the points scored inside that half decide the result, not the overall lead.
Three outcomes are available for each half:
| Selection | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Team 1 wins the half | First-listed team scores more points in the half |
| Team 2 wins the half | Second-listed team scores more points in the half |
| Tie (half) | Both teams score the same number of points in the half |
Some presentations add combined options such as “Team to win both halves” or “Half-by-half outcome”.
| Example: Team A vs Team B. After Q1 and Q2 the score is 52 to 48. Team A wins the first half by 4 points, so a Team 1 First Half Win settles regardless of the final result. |
Win by Quarters
Win by Quarters applies the same logic to each quarter (Q1 to Q4) as a separate market.
Each quarter offers:
| Selection | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Team 1 wins Q[n] | First-listed team scores more points in that quarter |
| Team 2 wins Q[n] | Second-listed team scores more points in that quarter |
| Tie in Q[n] | Both teams score equally in that quarter |
Quarter ties are uncommon, which is why the tie option carries higher odds than the team selections.
Quarters vs Halves
A half combines two quarters, so a narrow Q1 win can be erased by a bad Q2. Quarter markets isolate 12 minutes of play and react faster to rotations, foul trouble and momentum.
| Example: Team A outscores Team B 34 to 28 in Q3. The Q3 market settles as a Team 1 win, whatever the final result. |
Correct Score by Quarters
Correct Score by Quarters asks by how many points a team wins a quarter, in ranges.
Common formats:
- Team 1 by 1-5 points
- Team 1 by 6-10 points
- Team 1 by 11-15 points
- Team 1 by 16+ points
- Tie
- Team 2 by 1-5 points
- (and so on)
Selections are ranges of the point difference, not exact scores.
| Selection | Illustrative Odds |
|---|---|
| Team 1 wins Q2 | 1.75 |
| Team 1 wins Q2 by 6-10 points | 4.50 or higher |
| Example: You back “Team 1 by 6-10 points in Q4” at 5.20 and Q4 ends 32 to 25 (a 7-point difference). The bet wins. |
Where to find it: under the Quarters or Period Markets tab of the event. Availability depends on the game and on whether it is live.
Race to N Points
Race to N Points measures which team reaches a set points total first, not a period result. It causes the most confusion among beginners.
How it works
The threshold is typically 10, 15, 20, 25 or 30 points. You back the team you expect to reach it first.
| Selection | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Team 1 | First-listed team reaches the threshold before Team 2 |
| Team 2 | Second-listed team reaches the threshold before Team 1 |
| Neither | Neither team reaches the threshold within the specified period |
What “Neither” means
“Neither” is not a draw. It means no team reaches the threshold within the defined window, usually the first half or a set part of the game.
| Example: Race to 30 Points, first half. The halftime score is 24 to 22, so neither team reached 30 and “Neither” wins. |
Without “Neither” the market looks like a two-way bet. In low-scoring games or with a high threshold it is a real option.
| Example, Race to 20: Team A reaches 20 points with 4:15 left in Q1 while Team B is at 14. Team A wins the market regardless of the rest of the game. |
Race to Points 2-Way
Race to Points 2-Way removes the “Neither” option and offers two selections:
| Selection | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Team 1 | Reaches the threshold before Team 2 |
| Team 2 | Reaches the threshold before Team 1 |
| Market Format | Threshold Level | “Neither” Option | Typical Application |
|---|---|---|---|
| Race to N Points (3-way) | Moderate to high relative to period | Yes | First-half or quarter-specific races |
| Race to Points 2-Way | Low relative to full-game scoring | No | Full-game race to an easily-reached total |
2-Way vs 3-Way odds
In a 3-way market “Neither” takes part of the probability, so the team selections usually carry slightly higher odds than in the 2-Way equivalent.
| Market | Illustrative Team 1 Odds |
|---|---|
| 3-way Race to 25 (first half) | 1.90 |
| 2-Way Race to 25 (full game) | 1.65 |
Live Examples Across Markets
Example: one game, several markets
| Market | Selection | Scenario That Wins |
|---|---|---|
| Win by Halves: H1 | Team 1 | Team 1 outscores Team 2 in Q1 and Q2 combined |
| Win by Quarters: Q3 | Team 2 | Team 2 outscores Team 1 in Q3 alone |
| Correct Score by Quarters: Q1 | Team 2 by 1-5 | Team 2 wins Q1 by 1 to 5 points |
| Race to 20: Q1 | Neither | Neither team reaches 20 points in Q1 |
| Race to 10: Full Game 2-Way | Team 1 | Team 1 reaches 10 points before Team 2 |
Late in Q3, Team A trails by 6 but has been strong in Q4.
- Win by Quarters, Q4: back Team A to win Q4 independently of the match result
- Race to 30, Q4 only: back Team A to reach 30 fourth-quarter points first
- Correct Score by Quarters, Q4: back Team A to win Q4 by 6 to 10 points
All three bets express the same read, a strong Q4 for Team A, through different markets with different odds and settlement conditions.
